Perfection. It’s the only way I knew how to describe the past two days with Harvey. I felt like we were living in a little bubble of perfection, and I never wanted it to end.

Harvey’s heat was starting to fade—I’d made sure to help him out in every way possible. Every position, every room, everything. He’d be heading back to work tomorrow. But before he did, I wanted to do one last thing.

“So,” I began as we cuddled on my couch, “Mason’s second birthday is today.”

“Mason?” he asked.

I nodded. “Thorne’s son.” Harvey had never met him before, and he didn’t know all the history there with what happened with Thorne and his mate. How Molly had died from complications in childbirth and left Thorne a single dad. It had been bad enough losing Harvey for four years—and I didn’t even know at that time we were fated mates. Now that we were, I couldn’t imagine losing him, and truly couldn’t imagine how hard it had been on Throne to lose Molly.

I told Harvey the short version of the story, then said, “Thorne is throwing a birthday party for Mason today at their house. Would you like to come with me?”

I waited while Harvey rolled the idea around in his head. I could tell he was a little hesitant about seeing the guys again after all this time.

“Look,” I said. “You know the pack. They’d love to see you there, have you be a part of Mason’s day. I mean, you are my fated mate, after all.” I grinned. “They’ll be more than happy to include you.”

Harvey gave me a small smile, then nodded his head, even though I could tell he wasn’t convinced. Maybe he was worried about what they’d think about him. They’d seen the aftermath of what it had done to me when he left before. But that was all in the past now. We had our future to look forward to. And my future included Harvey in every way. Of course, I wanted him to be part of our little group. My best friends and the man I loved, together.

“It will be fun. Don’t worry.” I kissed the top of his head then pushed to my feet, leering at him suggestively. “I’m going to get a quick shower. Want to do your part to help conserve water and join me?”

Harvey laughed but followed with no objections.

Within an hour we were ready to head off to Thorne’s house. Climbing in my car, Harvey looked a little pale.

“You okay? Seriously, I told you not to worry. They’ll welcome you back with open arms.”

“It’s not that.” Harvey shook his head. “I just feel a little nauseous. Maybe I didn’t eat enough this morning, I don’t know.” He grinned slightly. “You’ve been giving me more of a workout than I’m used to.”

I glanced over at him. He definitely looked a little worse for the wear. “Yeah, let me stop and get you something.”

I went through a drive-thru coffee shop and ordered a cappuccino and muffin for Harvey.
